Dear Queen Bee 16 Families and Community Members,
Welcome to the Queen Bee 2020 Project Website!
Queen Bee School District 16 has been working hard to provide an outstanding education to the students of our community for almost 160 years. Our district has faced many challenges and capitalized on many opportunities over the years to ensure that our school district is not only outstanding in service, but that our efforts are sustainable. Our most recent accomplishments are reflective of those two commitments. The rate of improvement and achievement of our students over the past three years has led to each of our schools scoring a Commendable Rating from the Illinois State Board of Education or better. Additionally, we posted our first budget surplus in many years in the 2018-2019 school year, and we are on track to come in under budget once again. Our hard work on behalf of the community is producing positive results.
The Queen Bee 16 Board of Education charged me with developing a comprehensive plan to ensure that our district is academically and financially sustainable for the foreseeable future. Following a careful and comprehensive analysis of our exposures and opportunities for improvement and a review of demographic and financial data. Together with the Board of Education, we developed a comprehensive plan to improve our facilities, increase the level of traffic safety, and improve the instructional program, while strengthening our financial position. The comprehensive plan is called Queen Bee 2020, as the structural and facilities improvements contained within the plan will be completed before or during the 2020 school year.
This website is our hub for all information about Queen Bee 2020 and updates on our progress. We have designed the site to answer as many questions as possible and to generate interest in our efforts to improve our schools and the quality of life in our community. Our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section is comprised largely of community and parent questions that we received last spring when we conducted Informational Sessions at each of our schools. We will be updating these sections to ensure that you have current and accurate information as we proceed. Additionally, we will be conducting additional community engagement meetings throughout the winter and spring at each of our schools.
We are excited about our progress to this point, and we are looking forward to our continued service to the students and families of Queen Bee School District 16. Enjoy the site and feel free to contact me via email if you have questions that remain unanswered by the site or insights to share at email@example.com.
