Queen Bee 2020 Engagement Forum

Members of the Queen Bee Community,

We have had an outstanding year in many regards and we have made significant progress in some major areas. Our teachers and students continue to work hard and their results continue to improve as we strive to provide an educational foundation that will serve our students for years beyond their time at Queen Bee District 16. As you know, our students participate in the most comprehensive STEM Program, Project Lead The Way, in the nation where they build their capacity to understand and respond to challenges in Engineering, Medical Fields, Environmental Science, and Math in addition to our traditional Core Offerings. We recently learned that District 87 has elected to implement the Project Lead The Way (PL TW) curriculum at Glenbard North and West for next year. Our students will be able to continue their STEM journey as they transition into our high school programs and this experience will contribute to both their college and career readiness.

The Board of Education and I have been working hard throughout the year to ensure that Queen Bee School District 16 is well positioned to sustain our upward trajectory and together we have crafted a strategic charge that has guided much of our work. The charge was relatively simple: Develop a comprehensive plan to respond to the challenges that we face in the areas of finance, efficiency, and personnel that improves our schools for the children in our classrooms that is sensible and sustainable.

The resulting plan is called Queen Bee 2020. This plan identifies the challenges that we currently face and links those challenges to solutions that will improve our schools, strengthen our community, and ease the burden of our taxpayers. We have prepared a summary that you can access on the webpage and I will be conducting an engagement forum at each of our schools over the next few weeks so that we can receive feedback on Queen Bee 2020 and take the opportunity to share with you the plan in greater detail.
