COVID-19 Update
Dear Queen Bee School District 16 Community:
Queen Bee School District 16 will be closed for the next three weeks beginning on Monday, March 16th 2020. We intend to re-open for students and faculty on Monday, April 6th, 2020.
At this time, there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in any of the Queen Bee 16 schools. However, the district has decided to close in an abundance of caution and in an effort to reduce the number of large gatherings in the community.
Monday, March 16th, will be a non-attendance day for students. However, our faculty and administration will be working to finalize our Remote Learning Contingency Plan (RLCP) which is a plan to continue to deliver educational services to all of our students remotely. This afternoon we will be issuing printed curricular resources to all of our students to be used at home during the time that we are operating remotely. Additionally, we will issue chromebooks for home instruction to all students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades. Our students in Grades K and 1 will have print resources only.
A team of Instructional Coaches and Administrators have been working diligently over the past weeks to prepare for this contingency and we have a plan to have daily digital contact with our students and families. Additionally, an array of resources have been made available via our district and school websites for your utilization and review. We are confident that we can support our students and families through this challenging period and we remain committed to our partnership with you.
We intend to have student meals available on school days for students who are eligible for Free and Reduced lunch during this period of remote operation. We are finalizing the details of our foodservice plan at this moment. Please monitor your emails and our website for instructions.
Our faculty will not be in the district during this period of remote learning. However, they will be available via email daily from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The District Office will remain open and all administrators remain available via email at anytime.
The decision to employ the Remote Learning Contingency Plan was not one that was easily arrived upon and we are moving into an educational service model that will bring new challenges that we are committed to meeting one at a time and in partnership with our families and our community. We appreciate your continued support and understanding. I am confident that by working together we can accomplish anything that we are committed to and we remain committed to our students.
You will be receiving emails on Monday with more detail and I encourage you to continue to monitor our website on a regular basis.
Sincerely,
Joseph R. Williams, Ed. D.
Sinceramente,
Joseph R. Williams, Ed. D.
