Board Vacancy

The Queen Bee School District No. 16 Board of Education is actively seeking district residents who would like to be considered for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education.

 

The individual appointed will serve on the seven member board until April, 2021. Candidates will be asked to submit a letter of interest, a cover letter and a brief resume, if one is available. Please submit the required documents to superintendent@queenbee16.org by March 7, 2019.  Applicants’ names will be kept confidential.  Information regarding application procedures can be obtained by calling the district Superintendent’s office at (630)260-6105.

 

Illinois law requires a school board member to be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a resident of the State of Illinois and the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and a registered voter.  Reasons making an individual ineligible for Board membership include holding an incompatible office and certain types of State or federal employment. A child sex offender, as defined in State law, is ineligible for Board of Education membership. Board Policy 2:40, Board Member Qualifications

 

The Illinois Association of School Boards recommends that a school board member have the ability to work as a member of a team; be willing to spend the time necessary to become informed about the district’s operation; be able to attend board meetings and workshops; have a desire to serve children and the community; have a strong belief in the value of public education; have a well-developed sense of fair play; and recognize that a school district is a complex, multi-million dollar enterprise.
